FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to be registered with Marton Dental Practice to get emergency treatment?

No – both registered and non-registered patients are welcome. We’re here for anyone in need of urgent dental care.

Will I be seen on the same day?

We reserve emergency slots daily. Registered patients and plan members are typically seen within 24 hours, and non-registered patients as soon as possible – often within 48 hours.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency while travelling or outside Middlesbrough?

Contact us for advice. If you are a Denplan member, you have access to emergency cover across the UK and abroad.

What if I have dental anxiety?

Our team is experienced in helping nervous patients feel at ease. We’ll explain everything clearly, go at your pace, and offer gentle, compassionate care.

How do I join a dental plan for priority emergency access?

You can join our plan during your emergency visit, by calling us, or online at Denplan Essentials. Plan members enjoy priority emergency appointments, routine check-ups, hygiene visits, discounts on treatments, and ongoing peace of mind.

Can I be seen out of hours?

If you are a Denplan member, you have access to our out-of-hours service. For severe swelling affecting breathing or uncontrolled bleeding, call 111 or 999 immediately.

Will my emergency be fully fixed on the day?

Our main goal is to relieve your pain and stabilise the problem. In many cases, we can provide a definitive solution at your first visit. If more complex treatment is needed, we’ll arrange follow-up care and keep you comfortable in the meantime.

Treatment Timeline

Step 1

What to do in a dental emergency

Step 2

Contact us immediately

Call, WhatsApp, email, or use our online form. Our reception team will triage your case and book you the earliest available appointment. If clinically indicated, a dentist may call you back with advice on managing your symptoms until you’re seen.

Step 3

Pain relief at home

Take over-the-counter painkillers (paracetamol or ibuprofen) as directed. For swelling, use a cold compress. Rinse with saltwater if you suspect infection, but never attempt to pop an abscess.

Step 4

Tooth knocked out?

Keep the tooth in milk or your own saliva and bring it to your appointment. The sooner you’re seen, the better the chance of saving your tooth.

Step 5

Your emergency appointment

  • We will assess your symptoms, identify the cause, and focus on gently relieving your pain.
  • Where possible, we’ll provide immediate treatment – whether that’s a filling, temporary or permanent restoration, draining an abscess, or extracting a severely damaged tooth.
  • If further care is needed, we’ll create a clear plan and arrange any necessary follow-up appointments.
  • If you wish, you can join one of our dental plans during your visit, by phone, or online at Denplan Essentials, to secure ongoing priority access for future emergencies.
