Dr Lucy Currie

Associate Dentist | Facial Aesthetics Clinician

BDS (N’cle) GDC Number: 308892

Dr Lucy Currie is the newest member of our dental team, joining Marton Dental Practice in September 2024. Originally from the local area, Lucy brings a fresh enthusiasm, a strong commitment to high-quality dentistry, and a naturally empathetic approach that helps patients feel at ease from the moment they sit down.

Lucy has a particular passion for restorative dentistry, with crowns being one of her favourite treatments to carry out. She enjoys rebuilding and strengthening teeth in a way that looks natural and feels comfortable, taking time to get the detail right so results last.

In addition to general and restorative dentistry, Lucy is also one of our facial aesthetics clinicians, providing both dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle treatments. Her dental training and understanding of facial anatomy mean she is ideally placed to deliver safe, subtle enhancements that complement her patients’ smiles—whether as standalone treatments or as part of a wider smile makeover.

Patients value Lucy’s calm, friendly manner and her ability to listen carefully, explain options clearly, and tailor treatment to each person’s needs and concerns.

Outside the Surgery

Outside of work, Lucy has recently bought her first home and is enjoying the challenge of decorating and making it her own. She’s very outdoorsy and loves getting out for long walks with her dog. A keen reader, she’ll happily get stuck into almost any genre—there’s usually a book (or two) on the go at any given time.

Lucy’s mix of local roots, attention to detail, and genuine empathy makes her a great choice for patients looking for both high-quality dental care and gentle, natural-looking facial aesthetic treatments.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How often should I get a check-up?

At Marton Dental Practice, regular dental check-ups are essential for maintaining good oral health. While the exact frequency may vary depending on individual needs, routine dentist and hygienist visits are part of your preventive armour against dental infections and gum disease. For most people, check-ups are recommended every 6 months, though patients at higher risk may be advised to come in more frequently.

Why are my teeth sensitive?

Tooth sensitivity can be caused by several factors, including:

  • Dental infections or decay reaching the inner layers of the tooth.
  • Gum recession exposing the tooth’s dentine (a weaker layer than enamel).
  • Cracked or chipped teeth.
  • Worn fillings or enamel erosion.

If you’re experiencing sensitivity, it could also be a sign of underlying gum disease or the early stages of a dental infection that may require attention, such as a root canal treatment if left untreated.

How do I whiten my teeth?

Marton Dental Practice offers professional at-home teeth whitening using White Dental Beauty products. This treatment involves:

  • Custom-made whitening trays based on 3D digital scans.
  • Dentist-supervised application of a safe, vegan-friendly whitening gel.
  • Wear time as short as 30 minutes per day.

The process is non-invasive, gentle on sensitive teeth, and results can last for years with good maintenance.

Why are my gums bleeding?

Bleeding gums are often a sign of gum disease, caused by the build-up of plaque and tartar. If left untreated, this can progress to serious gum damage, tooth loss, and even systemic health issues like cardiovascular disease.

Marton Dental’s hygienists offer:

  • Scale and polish treatments to remove plaque.
  • Deep cleaning below the gumline to close gum pockets.
  • Tailored advice for ongoing gum maintenance.

Early treatment can reverse gum disease and prevent more invasive procedures later.
