I’m Omar, the owner and principal dentist at Marton Dental Practice in Marton, Middlesbrough. I’ve been looking after patients’ smiles here for over 10 years, and my goal is simple: to provide the kind of dentistry I would want for myself and my own family—thorough, honest, and genuinely caring.
Training, qualifications and teaching
I’ve always been passionate about doing things properly and to a high standard, which is why I’ve invested heavily in advanced training throughout my career. My postgraduate qualifications include:
- MSc in Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry (University of Manchester).
- Diploma in Oral Surgery – Royal College of Surgeons of England.
- Diploma in Endodontics (advanced root canal treatment).
- MJDF (Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties), RCS.
Alongside treating patients, I’m also involved in training the next generation of dentists through foundation dental training. Helping younger colleagues develop their skills and clinical judgement keeps me on my toes and ensures we maintain high standards across the profession.
This combination of advanced training and teaching means I can offer a wide range of treatments in-house—from complex root canal treatments and cosmetic smile makeovers, to advanced restorative work and minimally invasive dentistry.
Clinical interests
My main clinical interests are:
- Cosmetic dentistry and smile makeovers (including Invisalign, composite bonding, veneers and whitening).
- Advanced root canal treatment and re-root canal treatment.
- Restorative and aesthetic dentistry (crowns, onlays, complex cases).
- Long-term treatment planning and rebuilding worn or heavily restored teeth.
I particularly enjoy treating more complex cases—patients who have been told their teeth can’t be saved, or who feel their smile is “too far gone”. With careful planning, modern techniques, and the right technology, we can often achieve results that are both life-changing and long-lasting.
Technology and attention to detail
I’ll happily admit I’m a bit of a gadget enthusiast—both in and out of the surgery. In dentistry, that means I’m always looking to incorporate the latest proven technology and methods into the way we work, such as:
- Digital scanners instead of traditional impressions.
- Advanced imaging and planning tools.
- Modern materials and minimally invasive techniques.
The aim isn’t to use tech for the sake of it, but to make treatment more precise, more comfortable, and more predictable for our patients.
Philosophy of care
For me, dentistry is not just about teeth—it’s about people. I believe in:
- Taking time to listen to what you want.
- Explaining options clearly, without pressure or jargon.
- Planning treatment that fits your life, budget, and long-term health.
- Focusing on prevention so you need less treatment in the future.
Many of our patients are nervous or have had bad experiences elsewhere. My job is to change that—by being gentle, patient, and transparent, and by showing that modern dentistry can be comfortable and positive.
Working as a team
I’m very proud of the team we’ve built at Marton Dental Practice. We have highly trained dentists, hygienists, nurses, and a dedicated treatment coordinator who all share the same values: kindness, attention to detail, and putting patients first.
We also work closely with other dentists in the area. Many colleagues refer patients to us for advanced root canal treatments, cosmetic cases, and implants, and we’re always happy to collaborate and send patients back with a stable, healthy result.
Outside the surgery
Outside of clinical work, I’m committed to ongoing education—keeping up with the latest research, techniques, and technologies so our patients benefit from modern, evidence-based care.
Away from dentistry, I like spending time with my family, and I have a particular weakness for gadgets of all kinds (not just the dental ones). I also enjoy karting when I get the chance—and, much to my team’s amusement, I have a strong dislike for bad grammar and spelling. Attention to detail seems to follow me everywhere.
If you’re considering joining the practice—whether for routine care, a cosmetic treatment, or a more complex case—I’d be delighted to meet you, listen to your concerns, and help you plan the best way forward for your smile.
